What are the pre-requirements?

  • An applicant for a PPL shall be at least 17 years of age.
  • Able to obtain EASA Medical Class II or Class I certificate (Certificate is required by the date of your first flight training.).
  • English ICAO Level 4. (Required by the date of your first solo flight.).

What are the limitations of the PPL(A) licence?

  • Holders of a PPL(A) are entitled to act as Pilot In Command or co-pilot of the aircraft without commercial purposes.
  • Until successful completion of further trainings, PPL holders can fly only in VFR conditions with single engine aircraft, up to 5700 kg certified maximum take-off mass.
  • Carrying a maximum of 19 passengers.
  • Maximum of 20 people on board of the aircraft.

Flight Exam

The theoretical part includes 86 hours of computer-based self-training and tests online. Everything is designed so that you can learn online through distance learning.

The following 9 subjects will be covered during your theoretical training:

  • Air law
  • Aircraft general knowledge
  • Flight planning & performance
  • Human performance & limitations
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Operational procedures
  • Principles of flight
  • Communications

We offer an up-to-date question bank to support your study and exam preparation. Applicants can take their exam in a familiar and friendly environment at one of our, Austro Control approved examination venues.

The practical part of the EASA PPL (A) course is designed to provide a broad experience for student pilots.

Minimum of 45 flying hours:

    • Minimum of 40 hours on aircraft.
    • Minimum 5 hours on simulator.

These are necessary to prepare you to safely operate a single engine piston aircraft.

You will master:

    • Basic manoeuvres
    • Take-offs
    • Landings
    • Emergency procedures
    • Navigation on cross country flights

At the end of the training programme, students are required to complete an official check flight, during which a flight examiner is on board to assess their skills and performance. The examination is 1.5 hours.
